Road closure announced

Garco Construction has requested a road closure at the intersection of Locust Street and Dogwood Street to facilitate the waterline and storm drain installation. There will be a gravel bypass road constructed at the northwest corner of the subject intersection to maintain traffic flow. The closure will be in effect from Aug. 11 through Sept. 1.

Free water park party to be held
The next Electric City Water Park party is Aug. 21 from 8 p.m. to midnight. The Culture of Responsible Choices event is an alcohol-free party sponsored by the Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws grant. A bounce castle and free refreshments will be provided. To sign up, just show your ID at the gate.

Unity service at Ryan Dam
There will be a Protestant unity service Aug. 23 at 11 a.m. at Ryan Dam in Great Falls. Following the service, sandwiches, chips, cookies and drinks will be available. There will not be a Protestant service at the base chapel on this day. For more information, call the chapel at 731-3721.

2nd Avenue North gate closing for two days
The 2nd Avenue North gate will be closed from 6 a.m. Aug. 29 to midnight Aug. 30 for construction. The 10th Avenue North gate will be open for all traffic during this time. All visitors will still need to process through the Visitor Control Center for passes, which will maintain normal operations. The 2nd Avenue North gate will re-open for normal operations at midnight Aug. 30, at which time the 10th Avenue North gate will close. For more information, call 731-6978.

News from the MPS
The Military Personnel Section will be closed, except for ID card issue, Aug. 26 from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for training. Call 1st Lt. Danielle Hummert at 731-4648 with any emergencies. The Customer Service section of the MPS will be closed Sept. 17 and 18 to upgrade the RAPIDS system hardware. Updates to DEERS and ID card issue will not be available during this time. Hours changing at Outdoor Recreation
Effective Sept. 1, the hours of operation at Outdoor Recreation will change. Hours will be Monday (if not a holiday), Thursday and Friday (if not a family day): 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday, Sunday, holidays and family days: 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. ; closed Tuesday and Wednesday. Thrift Store summer hours
The Malmstrom Thrift and Consignment Store's summer hours will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays in August. The store is located in building 581 on Goddard Drive. For more information, call 731-3213.

Girl Scout leaders needed

Labor Day hours at the Commissary
The commissary will be open regular hours over the Labor Day weekend. It will, however , be closed Tuesday, Sept. 8 in observance of Labor Day. Hours are:
Friday, Sept. 4 and Saturday, Sept. 5: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. with Early Bird shopping from 7 to 9 a.m.
Sunday, Sept. 6: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Monday, Sept. 7: Closed
Tuesday, Sept. 8: Closed

Club promotion winners announced
Recently the Grizzly Bend Club has given away numerous cash and prizes to lucky club members. Thirty-three new members were given a total of $330 in club bucks. The club gave away $40 to members for signing up new members. The winner of the $7,500 cash bingo jackpot Aug. 11 was Roselee Lindseth and Senior Master Sgt. Tom Johnson, 341st Missile Maintenance Squadron, was the winner of the diamond necklace given away at the membership luau Aug. 14. Congratulations to all.
