CFC set to kick off in Cascade County -- 341st Missile Wing commander serving as this year's chairman Published Sept. 3, 2009 By Valerie Mullett 341st Missile Wing Public Affairs Office MALMSTROM AIR FORCE BASE, Mont. -- Federal civilian employees and service members in the Cascade County area can make a tax-deductible donation to an eligible non-profit organization of their choice during the Combined Federal Campaign Sept. 8 to Oct. 20. The theme this year is "I Can Now More Than Ever." Last year's local campaign raised more than $140,000. More than 300 CFC campaigns are held nationally and internationally to raise money for organizations that provide health and human service benefits throughout the world, according to the U.S. Office of Personnel Management's CFC Web site. This year, there are more than 2,300 national and international organizations participating in the CFC which includes one new federation - Wild Animals Worldwide - according to a memorandum signed by Mark Lambert, Director of the Office of CFC Operations. Each squadron will have a key worker that will contact its members and collect donations. The list of key workers is included here. "No one is required to donate, however the key workers will contact everyone and give them the chance to donate if they so desire," said 1st Lt. Tamara Wyatt, one of this year's CFC project officers. "This is a really easy way to help make a difference and with so many charities and organizations to choose from, each donor can give to whomever they are most passionate about helping." Col. Michael Fortney, 341st Missile Wing commander, is serving as the Great Falls area chairman this year. "This year, with your help, I am confident we can exceed last year's phenomenal results," he said. "A few minutes of your time today can help provide food to a hungry child, relief for a family in need, renewed hope and better lives for millions of people in our global community . . . The need is great, so I urge you to be as generous as you can. Working together, we can make a difference." The 341st Missile Wing's goal toward the local area contributions is $95,500.
