In commemoration of Veterans Day, the 341st Security Forces Group hosted the Ruck Up and Remember Road March Nov. 11.

Participants completed a demanding 5-mile course, carrying 45-pound rucksacks while performing 100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups and 100 ruck raises at the course's half-way mark.

Chaplain Capt. Jeremy Wells was present at the march to greet each competitor at the start line, giving words of encouragement before they began.

"That's what security forces are all about," said Chaplain Wells, "marching at 0800 on a crisp, cold Veterans Day morning. I didn't do anything formally, but I wanted to thank all of them for their participation and was stoked at the opportunity to be out there with them."

All of the competitors successfully completed the march and the top three finishers were awarded etched mugs commemorating their achievement.

The winners of the march were 2nd Lt. Jack Glojek, who won first place and completed the march in 49 minutes; 2nd Lt. Steve Zeglin, who finished second in 65 minutes; and Senior Airman Jareth Roberts, who finished third in 70 minutes.

Also, 2nd Lt. Matthew Hall, Chief Master Sgt. Charles Lunsford and Senior Airman Jamie Thompson received honorable mention for their participation in the event.

"I want to thank every competitor and volunteer who made that event possible," said Maj. Warren Brainard, 341st Missile Security Forces Squadron commander. "Your efforts paid tribute in a spirit of remembrance, recognition and appreciation to all veterans who went before us and those who are currently serving."
