As we say goodbye to April, many of us find ourselves knee deep in spring cleaning. Remnants of plastic Easter eggs and baskets invade our living space. In our bedroom closets, we find unwanted winter clothes and playrooms are overrun with unused toys. Thoughts of organizing a yard sale may come to mind. We also may find ourselves planting our gardens, filling up birdfeeders, and polishing our binoculars and scopes to view wild life embracing the warm weather.

May is a month to celebrate a great deal of environmental events. Below you will find five remarkable days to observe.

Be Kind to Animals Week
Since 1915, May 2 - 8, Be Kind to Animals Week is celebrated nationwide. Animal shelters provide information and resources for all interested, and children are awarded who go above and beyond to create a safe and better world for all animals. For more information, visit www.americanhumane.org.
