LAMP lights up community; more musicians needed

  • Published
Local Artists and Musicians Project, or LAMP, is a non-profit organization formed with a simple but powerful mission in mind: to help raise food for the Great Falls Community Food Bank. While executing this mission, it hopes to provide volunteer entertainment in the community.

On the first Friday and Saturday of every month, in conjunction with the local First Friday Art Walk, various art and entertainment venues across Great Falls set out a food barrel from the local Community Food Bank to encourage donations throughout the weekend. The idea is to get people accustomed to bringing food donations with them as they enjoy First Friday each month, and to just drop their donations into the barrels at the many participating venues.

So far, the effort has met with success. Since the program started in February, nearly 400 pounds of nonperishable food items have passed through those barrels and made its way onto the shelves of the Great Falls Community Food Bank.

In addition to food donations, local musicians are being organized to volunteer their talents at such venues as retirement communities and hospitals. LAMP is looking for musical performers in all styles to donate their talent, and sing and play for a worthy cause. For complete details, visit our website at www.tryonconsulting.com/lamp.
