National Kid's Fishing Day at Pow Wow Pond is June 5 Published May 19, 2010 MALMSTROM AIR FORCE BASE, Mont. -- The National Kid's Fishing Day event on Malmstrom AFB will be held at Pow Wow Pond on June 5 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event actually coincides with National Fishing and Boating week and is coordinated by the "Take Me Fishing" national campaign. The State also establishes this day as a free-fishing day (no license required) for everyone. The concept is to promote families to get involved in recreational fishing and boating, and involves a comprehensive, measurable approach to reaching anglers of all ages and experience levels. On Malmstrom, with the help of the US Fish and Wildlife Service, kids and parents alike, many of whom might not have the opportunity or time to go elsewhere, are offered a chance to get outdoors and catch recently-stocked trout at Pow Wow Pond. Fish-stocking and natural resource management at Pow Wow Pond is funded annually by Air Force Space Command via the Malmstrom Conservation Program and is supported by the 341st Force Support Squadron.
