Changes to communications support at Malmstrom take effect Oct. 1 Published Sept. 24, 2010 By Capt. Stephanie Cox 341st Missile Wing Communications Squadron MALMSTROM AIR FORCE BASE, Mont. -- Effective Oct. 1, the communication services contract will expire and the newly formed Communications Focal Point will be established. At that time, all positions will begin transferring to civilian hire. As should be expected with a change of this size and scope customers should anticipate experiencing possible interruptions and/or degradations to service as new personnel and processes come on line in an effort to best support Air Force Global Strike Command's workforce at Malmstrom. The following critical changes will occur and affect all base users starting Oct. 1: - The Client Support Center 1, Bldg. 145, Rm. 229, will now handle new network accounts. This is being moved from the current location in Bldg. 145, Rm. 216. - Account creation will be streamlined. A specific work card has been developed outlining the steps to follow to establish a new account. - Switchboard operator hours will change to the following times: Monday - Friday, 7 a.m. to midnight Saturday - Sunday, 8 a.m. to midnight - During non-staffed hours, all calls will be handled through an automated switched network. - All client support trouble calls for small computer assistance must be called into the Communications Focal Point (formerly the NCC) at 731-2622 for remediation or forwarding to the appropriate client support work center for resolution. Questions about Communications Focal Point before Oct. 1 should be directed to Greg Davis at 731-2233. After Oct. 1, questions can be fielded by calling the Communications Focal Point number at 731-2622. Also, Capt Stephanie Cox at 731-6800 or Mr. Randy McFadden at 731-2153 can address specific questions if needed.
