Great opportunities coming from the Education & Training Center Published Sept. 24, 2010 By 341st Force Support Squadron Education Center staff MALMSTROM AIR FORCE BASE, Mont. -- The Education and Training Center at Malmstrom is a great tool to enhance the post-education opportunities offered to Air Force Global Strike Command Airmen stationed here. The following are the latest opportunities being offered and events scheduled. Troops to Teachers (Teaching as a Second Career) Walk-in Appointments Sept. 29, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Education & Training Center, Bldg. 1240 Troops to Teachers provides financial assistance to qualified military and family member applicants in the form of a stipend to aid in completing teacher training. In return, they would be asked to teach in a high-needs school district, or in a high-needs schoolhouse. Troops to Teachers also provides advising and referral assistance to those who transition to public school teaching. The Spouses to Teachers program also offers advice and financial assistance. Community College of the Air Force Graduation Oct. 27, 1 p.m., Base Auditorium More than 70 Malmstrom Airmen will receive their Associate of Applied Science Degree during this ceremony. Weekly briefings offered: College 101 Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1 p.m., Education & Training Center Learn what you need to know to begin your pursuit of higher education. Topics covered include choosing the right school for you and your goals, types of degrees available, CLEP/DANTES exams, Community College of the Air Force degrees, paying for college (i.e. financial aid, tuition assistance) and more. Learn how to apply for tuition assistance through the Air Force Portal. Also, become familiar with the AFVEC, or Air Force Virtual Education Center, and what it can do for you. Commissioning 101 Third Thursday of each month, 1 p.m., Education & Training Center Topics will include commissioning programs offered, i.e. Air Force Academy, Officer Training School, ROTC, Airman Scholarship and Commissioning Program, Airman Education and Commissioning Program, Professional Officer Course- Early Release Program and Scholarships for Outstanding Airman to ROTC, how to apply, when to apply, what you will need to complete your package and more. G.I. Bill Briefing Wednesdays, 1 p.m., Education & Training Center Learn the difference between the Montgomery GI Bill and the new Post 9/11 GI Bill.
