Wing leadership sponsored 2010's 2nd Spouse's Call Oct. 12 at the base theater to bring Malmstrom's spouses together and share important information. About 50 spouses attended the evening event.

The lobby area acted as an information hub, where various representatives from the Chapel, Malmstrom Spouses' Club, Airman and Family Readiness Center, Troy, Park and Embry Riddle Universities, and the 341st Force Support Squadron marketing division were present to talk about the programs and services each offers. Many provided free items for the spouses to take home.

"Spouses Calls are important because spouses are not always informed about what's happening on the installation," said Mrs. Smith. "It's a wonderful venue for them to be connected with information and resources that are not always available to them and to be able to ask their questions directly and get answers and feedback from wing leadership and subject matter experts. It really makes them feel like they are a part of the Malmstrom family."

After allowing time for the spouses to peruse through the lobby, Col. Anthony Cotton, 341st Missile Wing commander, and Chief Master Sgt. Cari Kent, 341st Missile Wing command chief, welcomed the Air Force Global Strike Command spouses in attendance.

The key messages leadership delivered to the audience included updating the spouses of the happenings on base, providing information on the support programs available to family members and responding to their concerns and feedback regarding the installation.

Jamie-Lynn Smith, A&FRC community readiness consultant, discussed the importance and benefits of the Spouse Link and Heart Link programs available, and the success the programs have had throughout the base. She also discussed the Military Spouse Center Advancement Accounts, an educational stipend program that will be reopening Oct. 25.

Mrs. Marsha Cotton, from the Malmstrom Spouses' Club, talked about some of the upcoming events open to all of Malmstrom's spouses, and about some of the regular clubs and programs they offer.

The 341st Medical Group reminded spouses about the Medical Group Spouses' Night Nov. 4, the Health and Wellness Center and the upcoming programs and classes available through them as well as upcoming flu shots available through the immunizations clinic.

Ongoing construction projects, which include a new community activities center, a new base exchange, and continued work in family housing, were also addressed.
"The housing privatization plans and information about the new community center was great," said Heather White, Spouses' Call attendee. "The family events they plan to have at the community center give us more chances to meet other families, children and get to know our community better. I'm looking forward to the next meeting."

Other briefers included Tech. Sgt. Robert Harmon from the 341st Security Forces Squadron and the base Domestic Violence advocate.
