The annual Combined Federal Campaign took place at Malmstrom Oct. 11 through Nov. 20 and there was no shortage of generosity from the Air Force Global Strike Command team stationed here.

A total of $117, 856.20 was raised, shattering the $95,000 goal set for the base at the onset.

"This campaign is very important because charities rely on our donations to continue their cause," said Master Sgt. Jason Halvari, this year's CFC coordinator for Malmstrom. "The CFC is one of the largest charity drives that takes place each year."

The mission of the CFC is to promote and support philanthropy through a program that is employee-focused, cost-efficient and effective in providing all federal employees the opportunity to improve the quality of life for all. More than 200 CFC campaigns are held nationally and internationally each year to help raise millions of dollars. Each pledge made by a federal civilian, postal or military donor during the campaign season support eligible nonprofit organizations that provide health and human service benefits throughout the world, according to the Office of Personnel Management's website at www.opm.gov/cfc.

Donations have been on the rise since 2004 when the total combined donations hit $256.9 million dollars. Last year, that total increased to $282.6 million. This year promises to continue the trend.

"The main reasons for the success of this year's CFC (at Malmstrom) were the dedication of Staff Sgt. Twyla Sears, the key workers, and first and foremost - the generosity of Team Malmstrom," Sergeant Halvari said. "This year's key workers were very motivated and their efforts were evident when the final contributions numbers were attained."

Holding true to the theme of this fund raiser, "I Care," Sergeant Halvari said this year was the highest amount of money raised on record by Team Malmstrom.
