Civil Air Patrol Change of Command

MALMSTROM AIR FORCE BASE, Mont. --  The Malmstrom Composite Squadron Civil Air Patrol Commander, CAP Maj. Adam Brandao, relinquished command to CAP Maj. Andrew Treiman in a ceremony Tuesday evening at the 341st Logistics Readiness Squadron auditorium here.

Civil Air Patrol Group One Commander, CAP Maj. Edward Olson, officiated the change of command and multiple Air Force, CAP and community members attended the event.

"[CAP] Major Treiman has been in CAP for 12 years and has already made a significant impact on this squadron and all of the Montana Wing," said CAP Major Brandao, "He will do great things as the commander."

CAP Major Treiman joined the CAP as a youth and is currently an active-duty first lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. He works as a deputy combat crew commander in Air Force Global Strike Command's 10th Missile Squadron. This is the first CAP squadron he has had the opportunity to lead. Prior to holding the position of Malmstrom Composite Squadron commander, he was the deputy commander of seniors.

"My goal for the squadron," said CAP Major Treiman, "is to build on the foundation that Major Brandao laid over the past two years so that I can enhance our capability to partner with Malmstrom and more effectively carry out Civil Air Patrol's mission locally."

Civil Air Patrol is the official U.S. Air Force auxiliary and is open to all U.S. citizens 12 years old or older. The Malmstrom Composite squadron focuses on both cadet training and adult member activities.

Cadets are CAP member under the age of 21. Their training revolves around a 16-step program that focuses on aerospace education, leadership training, physical fitness and moral leadership . Adult members, or Senior activities primarily include ground search and rescue, and air navigation.

The Malmstrom Composite Squadron is one of the largest squadrons in the Montana CAP Wing with cadets and seniors making up the 30-member group.
