Earth Day poster contest requirements outlined Published March 25, 2011 By Airman Cortney Hansen 341st Missile Wing Public Affairs MALMSTROM AIR FORCE BASE, Mont. -- Earth Day is a day that is intended to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth's natural environment. There will be an Earth Day poster contest open to all students grades K-12 to help increase awareness and appreciation for Earth Day throughout Great Falls. The Earth Day poster must depict one of the following themes: -Reduce Global Warming -Protect Your Environment -Storm Water -Endangered Animals -Renewable Energy -Alternate Energy -Composting -Wise Water Use -Fuel Cells -Waste Free Lunches -Building Green -Reduce, Reuse, Recycle -Green Up Great Falls -Earth Day Every Day -Conserve Energy It should be drawn horizontal on an 11" x 8.5" sheet of paper in color using pencils, crayons, markers, ink or paint, or created using original computer graphics. There can only be one entry per person, and must be the entrant's original work. The deadline for entries is March 31 to the Great Falls Tribune and must be submitted with an official entry form located within the Great Falls paper. There will be a total of 14 winners, one per grade level plus a random grand prize drawing winner. Each winner will receive an Earth Day T-shirt along with a prize specific to their grade. Winners for grades K-5 will receive a backpack; grades 6-8 will receive a $75 gift card; grades 9-12 will receive a $125 gift card; and all entries will be eligible to win a grand prize Trek bike. The bike drawing will be held April 16 at 2:30 p.m. at the Earth Day celebration in the Civic Center Convention Center. Members must be present to win.
