Stormwater Awareness Week kicks off with Earth Day events April 16 Published April 15, 2011 By Lana Hedlund 341st Civil Engineer Squadron MALMSTROM AIR FORCE BASE, Mont. -- Stormwater Awareness Week at Malmstrom is April 16-22 and it is being held in support of the efforts of the Air Force to protect the nation's natural waterways. Montana has a rich and diverse natural environment that relies on a delicate balance between industry and individuals. Malmstrom AFB and the United States Air Force are committed to practices that enhance and protect this balance. The week's festivities will kick off with the joint Earth Day event at the Civic Center April 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. where numerous exhibitors will be setting up booths and passing out fun, educational materials. Many will include games for the children. During the week, Air Force Global Strike Command's 341st CES environmental office will send out a voluntary survey via email to all base housing residents to assess community awareness of stormwater issues and impacts. The survey is a tool that will be used to guide the stormwater education and outreach program. Participation is appreciated but not mandatory. Anyone with questions about the survey can call 731-6175.
