Parents and children of all ages attended the Youth Center's annual Spring Carnival event April 23.

Children were welcomed to the carnival by the Easter bunny before heading to the several games and activities set up around the room; each activity run by a volunteer from this Air Force Global Strike Command base.

"Ms. Stevie Brown sent an email out saying she needed volunteers for the Spring Carnival," said Senior Airman Donald Love, 819th RED HORSE Squadron unit security manager. "I figured it'd be something new to do to get out of my apartment, and it's nice to see all the kids have fun."

Kids attending the event could play a variety of games and activities for candy or a prize donated by the event's sponsors - First Liberty and AAFES. Some of the activities offered were pin the tail on the donkey, face painting, a prize drawing and much more. The carnival also had food available for attendees to purchase.

"I love it because it's so much fun for [my son]," said Christa Gettis, a mother attending the event. "My favorite part is the excitement in his face; seeing each different activity that he can do and then winning the prizes. I think the Youth Center does a great job putting these events and activities on for the kids."

The Spring Carnival is a very successful event bringing in anywhere from 200 to 300 people each year and this year was no different with more than 200 guests.

"It was really hectic to begin with; trying to figure everything out - especially since we had to move it from the Youth Center to the Club this time - but once it's set up and you see all of the kids and volunteers having fun, it's definitely worth all the work," said Annjeanette Brown, a recreation specialist at Malmstrom's Youth Center.

The Easter weekend was topped off with an egg hunt for children at the chapel the next day.
