National Kids Fishing Day at Pow Wow Pond Published May 23, 2011 MALMSTROM AIR FORCE BASE, Mont. -- The National Kid's Fishing Day event on Malmstrom AFB will be held at Pow Wow Pond June 4 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event coincides with National Fishing and Boating Week and is coordinated by the Take Me Fishing National Campaign. The State also establishes this day as a free-fishing day (no license required) for everyone. The concept is to promote family involvement in recreational fishing and boating, and involves a comprehensive, measurable approach to reaching anglers of all ages and experience levels. On Malmstrom, with the help of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, kids and parents alike to go fishing, many whom might not have the opportunity or time to go elsewhere, are offered a chance to get outdoors and catch recently-stocked trout at Pow Wow Pond. Fish-stocking and natural resource management at the pond is funded annually by Air Force Global Strike Command via the MAFB Conservation Program and is supported by the 341st Force Support Squadron. Come out and enjoy the free fishing, food, and fishing equipment giveaways! For questions regarding National Kid's Fishing Day or Malmstrom's conservation program, contact Jason Gibbons at 731-6333.
