Dr. John Foley, who serves as the Director of the Airman and Family Readiness Center at this Air Force Global Strike Command base, received the Counselor of the Year award for his monumental contributions to counseling, education and the association. The award was on behalf of the Great Falls Counseling Association and was presented to Dr. Foley May 18 at a local luncheon.

In his position at the Malmstrom center he directs and supervises a staff of 10 professionals who provide family counseling, financial assistance, transition and relocation assistance, family life education programs, crisis counseling, and community and school liaison connections.

Dr. Foley also serves on the base Community Action Information Board, on the Integrated Delivery System sub-committee and designed the base Community Action Plan which was provided to Air Force Global Strike Command Headquarters. He also serves as the Psychological Consultant with the wing Hostage Negotiation Team and has been appointed to the base Traumatic Stress Response Team; he also helps numerous Airmen returning from deployments cope with related issues.

Not only has Dr. Foley dedicated his life to the fields of counseling and psychology, but he is also the professor of psychology for MSU Northern, having educated hundreds of other mental health professionals.

It is only fitting that a man who has dedicated his life to educating and helping others whether it be active-duty service members, veterans or family members should be recognized with an award such as this.
