Once a year, the leadership at Malmstrom Air Force Base hosts a dinner to honor and thank those in the local community for their continuing support of the base, its mission and its people. The event, known as the Salute to the Community Dinner, was held at the Grizzly Bend Sept. 22 and more than 50 people, including elected officials and local business personnel were in attendance.

In a letter to the guests on the cover of the program for the event, the wing commander took the time to acknowledge their contributions to the success of the 341st Missile Wing.

"As you know, the base and our 13,800 square-mile missile complex are vital to the defense of our Nation and its allies," said Col. Heraldo B. Brual, 341st MW commander. "It is a critical mission made possible by the dedication of our Airmen, and tremendously enhanced by the tremendous support from the Great Falls community and the seven Montana counties we call home."

He went on to say how their advocacy, generosity and involvement with both the Airmen and their family members helps with performing the strategic deterrence mission every day.

"You are a force enabler, and we could not do this without you," he said.
