Memorandum of understanding to be required before tuition assistance is issued
Effective Jan. 1, 2012, the Department of Defense will require all academic institutions participating in the Military Tuition Assistance program to have a signed memorandum of understanding in order for TA to be issued. The policy applies to all institutions accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and enrolling active duty military members using TA. Students or potential students need to ensure the school they are attending has a signed MOU on file. This includes schools operating on and off military bases and institutions delivering courses via classroom instruction and distance education.
