Window wedges prevent accidents Published Nov. 3, 2011 By 341st Missile Wing safety office MALMSTROM AIR FORCE BASE, Mont. -- Base residents with small children who live in two story homes are urged to stop by the Self-Help Store, pick up window wedges and install them to limit how wide second story windows can open. No tools are required to install the window wedges. The window wedge will protect children from accidentally falling out of the windows. The maximum window opening for child safety should not exceed four inches. Parents should not put beds, chairs or other furniture where children could climb on them and get to the windows. Call the Wing Safety Office at 731-6719 or 731-6720 if you have questions.
