Volunteers needed for bell ringing
The Salvation Army is continuing their 2011 Red Kettle campaign and volunteers are needed to serve as bell ringers to help raise money in support of social humanitarian efforts. The campaign is slated to run through Dec. 24, every Monday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Normal shifts are two hours long. For more information or to sign up to volunteer, contact Master Sgt. Operation Cookie Express needs bakers
Anyone interested in baking cookies for Operation Cookie Express should make four dozen, place them in small plastic bags, six cookies per bag and take them to the Chapel Annex Dec. 14 at 8 a.m. The cookies, along with other goodies, will be delivered to the dorm residents. If interested, contact Desiree Brual at dbrual@yahoo.com.

Troy registration starting soon
Registration to Troy University starts Dec. 12 and will run through Dec. 30 for new students, and Jan. 6 for current students. Classes for new students begin in January and are available online. For more information call Troy at 727-5451 or stop by the office in the Education Center.

Warrior Chef competition coming Dec. 16
The next head-to-head cooking competition between chefs from the three missile squadrons, the Force Support Squadron, and, for the first time, a team from the 819th RED HORSE Squadron, is Dec. 16 starting at 2 p.m. at the Elkhorn Diner. Judges include special guest judge, Father Leo Patalinghug along with Col. H.B. Brual, 341st Missile Wing commander, and Chief Master Sgt. Chuck Anderson, 341st MW command chief.


Airman's Attic to be closed for holidays
Due to the holidays, the Airman's Attic will be closed Dec. 22 and will reopen Jan. 5. The Airman's Attic is open Thursdays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and is located at Bldg. 4000 on Supply Drive.

Noon Year's Eve slated for children
Children of all ages are invited to celebrate the New Year during the Noon Year's Eve Party that will be held at the Library Dec. 30 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. For more information contact the base Library at 731-4638.

Air Force Aid Society to award grants
Under the General Henry H. Arnold Education Grant program, AFAS awards $2,000 to select applicants. The program is offered to dependent sons and daughters of active duty, Title 10 Air National Guard/Reservists on extended active duty, Title 32 AGR performing full-time active duty, retired, retired Reservists with 20 or more qualifying years of service, and deceased Air Force members. Spouses (residing stateside) of active duty and Title 10 AGR/Reservists on extended active duty; and surviving spouses of deceased members are also eligible candidates.
