It's no surprise that outdoor activity has been proven to increase physical and mental health in children.

Regularly exercising outdoors helps with weight, immunity, bone health and stress issues in children.

"Let's Move Outside," administered by the Department of Interior, was created to get children and families to take advantage of America's great outdoors.

The Ennis National Fish Hatchery and the 341 Civil Engineer Squadron have partnered together to provide an extra fish stocking opportunity this fall at Powwow Pond. Jason Gibbons, 341st CES Conservation Program Manager, has received outside funding to support multiple initiatives over the years, such as National Public Lands Day and Arbor Day over the years.

"The 'Let's Move Outside' campaign fits perfectly into Air Force quality-of-life initiatives, and we have a great relationship with the Department of Interior's fisheries program," Gibbons said.

On Oct. 27, approximately 200 retired rainbow trout broodstock, weighing between 2 and 5 pounds each, will be stocked at Powwow Pond.

"I'd like the community to take advantage of this unique opportunity to bring their family and friends out to the pond to catch a lunker before the water freezes," Gibbons said.

He also would like to remind anglers to complete a catch-record card at the Powwow Pond information kiosk after every visit.
