With the New Year upon us, many people find themselves contemplating a resolution goal. Often times this goal focuses on one or more health improvements. When we really think about it a lot of us have modifiable "vices" we can change. Have you ever stopped and asked yourself "why don't I make the healthy choices I know I should?" If we carry the question a step further, we realize at times we don't get enough physical activity, eat properly, cope with emotional stressors or time manage for good health practices.

Your Health and Wellness Center is here to help. Starting Jan. 30 and running through April 27, the HAWC will sponsor a New Year, New You lifestyle improvement challenge. The goal of the program will be to enable you, through lifestyle modification, to transform into that perfect healthy physique you've always wanted.

The New Year, New You challenge winner will be determined by the person with the greatest decrease in body fat percentage. Malmstrom's new Bod Pod will be used to provide information on body fat, fat-free body mass, resting metabolic rate and total energy expenditure. With this information, the HAWC staff can help you create an individual program that will assist you in achieving your weight-loss goals. All participants must be registered between Jan. 23 and 27 and can do so by calling the HAWC at 731-4292. Baseline assessments will be taken Jan. 30 through Feb. 3.
