Maj. Gen. C. Donald Alston, 20th Air Force commander, was the guest speaker during the All Call held at the Maintenance Group 3-Bay Hangar, Jan. 13.

Alston wanted to bring awareness to the challenges that members of Team Malmstrom face, and the importance of being resilient even in times of struggle.

"All of our services have had challenges with suicide and this has been a great concern over the last few years - particularly to Global Strike Command," Alston said. "Take advantage of having a wingman."

Alston also spoke about the physical, mental and spiritual challenges that Airmen face and how crucial it is for Airmen to rely on family and friends. He also discussed the impact supervisors have as leaders.

"Supervisors are key - they are leaders that carry great responsibilities at all levels," Alston said.

Col. H. B. Brual, 341st Missile Wing commander, spoke about safety, stressors and the necessity of Wingman Days.

"Whether it is financial, work-related or personal - all of these are stressors that we [Team Malmstrom] need to recognize," Brual said. "It's also critical for the Air Force to have resiliency days to discuss operational risk management and vehicle safety."

Brual also talked about the importance of having and sticking to a plan when drinking alcohol.

"If you plan on drinking, make a plan before and stick to it," Brual said. "Don't rely on your own judgment after drinking."

Following the All Call was Wingman Day - a day to bring Airmen together and learn about safety, goals and resiliency.

"We care not only because you [Airmen] are doing an important job, but because you're part of the Malmstrom Team," Brual said. "We take care of each other and that is why it is so important for the entire Air Force to have Wingman Days.
