Malmstrom Air Force Base's Fitness Center offers monthly fitness challenges for those who seek a form of competition to work into their regular work-out routines.

Each month, customers have the opportunity to participate in the month-long challenge. Participants log their mileage/points at the front desk and whoever accumulates the most points for the month wins a gift.

Each challenge varies from the next: from Marine physical training assessments to a weight lifting competition to cycling.

This month's activity is running, and with Valentine's Day just around the corner, participants must run with a partner.

"Two people will fill out one score card and the couple that has the most points wins a prize," said Senior Airman Tyler Treat, 341st Force Support Squadron fitness specialist.

The fitness challenge is also an opportunity for spouses, friends and couples who like a little competition, to work out as a team instead of individually.

"The monthly fitness challenge is a great morale booster for anyone who enjoys a competition," said Staff Sgt. Damien Jackson, 341st FSS fitness specialist. "The monthly fitness challenge is a great program that the Air Force offers, because not only are you working on your health, but you can receive a reward for the effort you already do."

February's winning couple will receive a $50 massage certificate.

"I hear many customers say that they want a massage, and this is an opportunity to receive a free, deep tissue massage from a licensed therapist right in the center," Jackson said.

Anyone interested in signing up for the challenge can visit the fitness center, open every day from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. For more information, call the center at 731-3621.
