Shape up for spring with aerobics classes Published March 9, 2012 Compiled by 341st Missile Wing Public Affairs Office staff MALMSTROM AIR FORCE BASE, Mont. -- Aerobics classes have returned to the Fitness Center as of March 1 and there are a variety to choose from. Below is a synopsis of what is being offered and a recap of what is scheduled in the week ahead. Weekly class schedules will be published in the Community Notes section of the paper each week so check for favorites there, stop by the Fitness Center to pick up a monthly schedule or download it from 341fss.com. Cycling Indoor Cycling is an effective way to challenge the body, no matter what your fitness level is. This class combines heart pumping music to motivate participants every step of the way. Riders will lose weight, get in shape and boost their energy level. Pilates Strengthens and tones muscles, improves posture, flexibility and balance, and creates a sleek, firm and strong body. Each movement targets the core muscles of the body, including the abs, lower back, hips and buttocks. By focusing on core muscles, participants build lean muscle that burn calories more effectively. Yoga Yoga is a flowing series of poses practiced in continued succession. The workout makes high energy accessible to anyone from beginners to advanced-level participants and is taught to fit every levels. This class emphasizes stamina, strength (poses are held from 10 to 30 seconds) and flexibility for total body fitness. Zumba Zumba is a fusion of Latin and international music and dance moves. Zumba utilizes the principles of fitness interval training and resistance training to maximize caloric output, fat burning and total body toning. It is a mixture of body sculpting movements with easy to follow dance steps. Turbo Kickboxing This high energy workout will get results. This class incorporates the best of boxing, kick boxing, hi/low aerobics, jump roping and self-defense. Also part of the aerobics program are strength and conditioning classes and PiYo strength classes.
