Malmstrom hosting National Kid's Fishing Day Event June 2

The National Kid's Fishing Day event here will be held at Powwow Pond on June 2nd from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event coincides with National Fishing and Boating week and is coordinated by the "Take Me Fishing" national campaign. The State also establishes this day as a free-fishing day (no license required) for everyone. The concept is to promote family involvement in recreational fishing and boating, and involves a comprehensive, measurable approach to reaching anglers of all ages and experience levels.

With the help of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, 341st Civil Engineer and Force Support Squadrons, children and parents alike, many of whom might not have the opportunity or time to go elsewhere, are offered a chance to get outdoors and catch trout at Powwow Pond. Enjoy the free fishing, food, and fishing equipment giveaways by age-group. The 341st Mission Support Group commander has provided special prize to the young angler who catches the most goldfish.
