Community notes Published Aug. 14, 2012 MALMSTROM AIR FORCE BASE, Mont. -- New CDMO office hours Malmstrom's Consolidated Dormitory Management Office has new operational hours. The office will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The office will be closed Aug. 16 and 17 for training; anyone needing emergency assistance on these days should call the CDMO stand-by phone at 788-8674. Outdoor Recreation trips slated The following are upcoming family-oriented outdoor adventure trips offered by Malmstrom's Outdoor Recreation: · A Missouri River family float trip is planned on Aug. 12 from 1 to 7 p.m. · A Whitefish summer adventure weekend is Aug. 24 to 26. Airmen development seminar slated for Aug.14 The Air Force Sergeants Association is sponsoring an Airmen development seminar at the Education Center on Aug. 14 starting at 8:30 a.m. The seminar will cover topics including Above the Influence, bullet writing, Community College of the Air Force, Enlisted Force Structure and servant leadership. Invitation extended to attend Heart Link spouse orientation program All new military spouses who have not attended Heart Link at Malmstrom are invited to attend the next Heart Link scheduled for Aug. 17 from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Malmstrom Chapel. Lunch will be provided and free childcare, funded by the Air Force Aid Society, is available through the Malmstrom Home Day Care Providers program. Volunteers needed for base picnic The annual base picnic is scheduled for Aug. 24 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Sun Plaza Park. AFGSC Striker Life Half Marathon Air Force Global Strike Command is sponsoring a half marathon, 10K and 5K run scheduled for Aug. 24 at Sun Plaza Park. The half marathon will start at 8 a.m.; 10K starts at 8:30 a.m.; and the 5K starts at 9 a.m. Race day registration will be from 7 to 7:45 a.m. at Sun Plaza Park. Pre-race packets can be picked up at the Fitness Center starting Aug. 22 at noon and Aug. 23 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Packets include T-shirt, race number and a gift from sponsors. Every half-marathon finisher will receive an official Striker Life 2012 Half Marathon medal. Those interested should register at Malmstrom's Fitness Center or at www.341FSS.com. Volunteers needed at Paris Gibson Square Paris Gibson Square will be the host site for an Arts on Fire event on Sept. 14 from 7 to 10 p.m. Organizers are looking for 25 to 30 volunteers to provide security during the event and to check identifications. Volunteers will be provided with free food, a security T-shirt to wear while volunteering and two additional tickets to the event to share with friends. Members interested in volunteering should contact Jeff Kuratnick at 727-8255. Potential volunteers are asked to sign up by Aug. 25 so shirts can be ordered. Buddy Walk registration has opened The 3rd Annual Under the Big Sky Buddy Walk will take place Oct. 6 at 11 a.m. at the University of Great Falls.
