The Loy Elementary School staff is inviting a parental representative from each Loy student's family to attend orientation meetings about the school and each child's classroom.

Welcome-to-School Night is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 27 from 5 to 8:55 p.m. for grades 1 through 6. Kindergarten Welcome-to-School Orientation is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 28 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

On Monday only, childcare will be available in the gym and in the library for students and any younger siblings.

"We will be sharing valuable information about the curriculum, the expectations for social and academic behavior and overall classroom procedures both nights," said Teresa Sprague, Loy Elementary School Principal. "That way, we can set the tone for a great school year."

The first day of school is Wednesday, Aug. 29, and dismissal for students in kindergarten through sixth grade will be at 2:40 p.m. on the first day.

Room 15, the special education resource room, will also be open on Monday, Aug. 27 from 6 to 7 p.m. for parents of students involved with that program.

The PTA will have a table set up in the main hall with displays and to sign up parents for memberships.

"Our Loy team is looking forward to reacquainting ourselves with parents and meeting our new parents on these nights," Sprague said. "I am greatly anticipating the 2012/2013 year as your principal."

Questions should be directed to the school staff at 268-6885.
