Community notes Published Sept. 7, 2012 By 341st Missile Wing Public Affairs MALMSTROM AIR FORCE BASE, Mont. -- Gate closures Sept. 8 and 9 Due to the installation of new fiber optics, the inbound lane for the front gate (located on Goddard Dr.) will be closed Sept. 8 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Also, the inbound lane for the commercial gate will be closed Sept. 9 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. All incoming traffic must use the alternate gates for entrance onto base. Outbound traffic will be constant at both gates throughout the duration of the project. Grizzly tracking classes coming up The Adventurers and Scientists for Conservation Program and Sierra Club are hosting a grizzly tracking class in the Gravelly/Snowcrest and Tobacco Root Mountains Sept. 21 to 23. Preference is given to military families and veterans. Individuals, in groups of two or four, will learn how to identify tracks and find DNA samples off fence lines, scats and rub trees. Applications being accepted for new victim advocates Applications for new Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Victim Advocates are being accepted until Sept. 14. Outdoor Recreation trips slated The following are outdoor adventure trips offered by Malmstrom's Outdoor Recreation: · A Hell's Canyon whitewater expedition is scheduled from Sept. 12 at 6 a.m. to Sept. 16 at 9 p.m. This five-day trip includes transportation, rafting and camping gear, and meals. The trip costs $360 per person and only 12 spots are open. · A caving adventure at Lick Creek Cave is scheduled for Sept. 23 from 1 to 9 p.m. The cost is $15 and includes transportation, helmets and headlamps.
