Community notes Published Oct. 18, 2012 By 341st Missile Wing Public Affairs MALMSTROM AIR FORCE BASE, Mont. -- Malmstrom to have official men's basketball team Tryouts for Malmstrom's official Men's Base Basketball Team are scheduled for Oct. 22 to 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Fitness Center. Active-duty members and their dependents can tryout. The season starts in November and the team will compete against collegiate teams from Montana. For more information, call Tech. Sgt. Khalil Gatlin at 403-6523. Clinic undergoing entrance renovation The base clinic is undergoing renovation at the main entry until mid December. The temporary main entrance and drop-off point will be the west entrance across from the Exchange. New email box for routing requests The Civilian Personnel Section has established a new email box for routing requests from the field. If supervisors, hiring officials or employees have questions, they can now send their requests to the following email address: 341fss.fsmc.malmstromcivilianpersonnelrequest@us.af.mil. Requests will be reviewed and a specialist will respond to the issue. Supervisors and hiring officials can also use this group email box to address fill actions or other personnel actions. Pass and Registration move to VCC Effective Oct. 22, the Pass and Registration section will consolidate with the Visitor Control Center, located near the main gate on Second Avenue North. Pass and Registration will continue to offer background checks, contractor identification cards and letters of entry Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The VCC will continue all current services in the same building. Restricted area badges will continue to be issued at Bldg. 250 by appointment only. Pass and Registration will be closed on Oct. 18 and 19 for consolidation. For more information, call Master Sgt. LRS to conduct free POV inspections The 341st Logistics Readiness Squadron is holding their annual privately-owned vehicle inspections on Oct. 27 to 28 and Nov. 3 to 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Bldg. 870. Park University to be Malmstrom's test center Park University is now taking over as Malmstrom's National Test Center. Anyone already scheduled through Troy University will automatically transfer to Park's schedule. Coats and warm clothing donations needed Boy Scout Troop 43 and Cub Scout Pack 43 from Malmstrom are holding their 10th Annual Coat and Warm Clothing Drive on Oct. 27 to benefit the children residing at the Great Falls Rescue Mission. Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts to sell popcorn Boy Scout Troop 43 and Cub Scout Pack 43 will be in base housing areas taking order for Boy Scout popcorn. Scouts will visit residents through Oct. 20, Monday to Friday from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. and Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. Residents will be given a popcorn marker to place in their front door window to show they have been contacted. The last movie this month is: · Oct. 25 - "Courageous" · Nov. 1 - "The Help" Malmstrom now has 24/7 Domestic Abuse Hotline Malmstrom now has a 24/7 private and confidential Domestic Abuse Hotline. The hotline is answered by the Domestic Abuse Victim Advocate who is a member of the Family Advocacy Program. The DAVA provides reporting options available, answers questions about intimate partner abuse or family violence, and encourages callers to come in for additional services. Services include victim safety planning, locating available resources on- and off-base, accompanying victims to court dates and medical appointments, assisting in finding shelter and filing for protective orders. Eligibility for ongoing services is limited to active-duty members, their spouses and their intimate partners. The DAVA can be reached by calling the Domestic Abuse Hotline at 952-3019. If you attend the Bundles for Babies Prenatal Class, you leave not only with lots of valuable information but also $75 worth of free Gerber Baby items (for those who qualify) and the opportunity to get an Air Force Aid Society $200 interest free breast pump loan. Some topics to be presented in the class are budgeting for a new baby, DEERS enrollment, ways to calm fussy babies, Shaken Baby Syndrome, Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), child seat safety, exercising and proper diet while pregnant, and much more. Both mom and dad are encouraged to attend, even if this is not your first child. Classes are generally held on the first Friday of each month from 8 a.m. to noon.
