Special tribute for Korean, Vietnam War veterans nearing Published Oct. 26, 2012 By Valerie Mullett 341st Missile Wing Public Affairs MALMSTROM AIR FORCE BASE, Mont. -- The Retiree Newsletter that was sent out in July mentioned there would be a special tribute to honor the Korean and Vietnam War veterans in the community during Veterans Day festivities in November. Col. H.B. Brual, 341st Missile Wing commander, has chosen Nov. 10 from 1 to 5 p.m. to host this special event at the Grizzly Bend. It will include both a formal and informal portion with an opportunity to visit with other veterans and active-duty military serving now while enjoying some light refreshments. Many of the Korean and Vietnam War veterans in the surrounding areas have already provided their information to the committee, however, for those who may not have known about it and want to participate, the organizers ask for a few things. 1) Please RSVP by Oct. 31 to Tech. Sgt. John Sinner by emailing him at john.sinner@us.af.mil or call him at (406) 231-9835. This is to ensure we have enough food on hand for all of our guests. 2) When you RSVP, if you haven't already provided this information, please let Sinner know which conflict you served in, your branch of service and a good means of contacting you. 3) Due to limited capacity, event organizers ask that you only bring one additional guest with you. Please let Sinner know how many people will attend. 4) For those veterans who may not be retired, the base will be open for access for this event only. Please enter the base through the 2nd Avenue North gate and let the Security Forces personnel know you are here to attend the Korean/Vietnam War Welcome Home. "This is a chance for all of us at Malmstrom to show our appreciation to the veterans who served before us," said Senior Master Sgt. William Smith, the event's co-chairman. "We have put a lot of thought and planning into making this a special tribute and we look forward to hosting our guests for what we hope will become an annual Veterans Day tradition."
