Airman 1st Class Jeremy Adams, 341st Logistics Readiness Squadron materiel management supply apprentice, was recently named the first winner of the 341st Missile Wing Public Affairs Quarterly Amateur Photo Contest. His submission 'Meandering' featured a scenic Montana river and expertly encompassed last quarter's theme, Montana Summers.

Col. H.B. Brual, 341st Missile Wing commander, presented Adams a certificate and coin for his first place entry in the contest at wing stand up on Oct. 17. Adams, who has been at Malmstrom since April, was both excited and honored to have received the award.

"I was thrilled to have won the contest," Adams said. "I've always been interested in photography and graphics, so to do something I enjoy and be recognized for it at wing level was pretty cool."

Adams has been pursuing photography as a hobby for seven years. After hearing about the wing photo competition, he decided to enter one that he thought would intrigue audiences and give him a sporting chance at winning.

"I took that photo at Upper Dearborn River near Augusta, Montana, during a church hiking trip,"
Adams said. "I wanted to submit a photo that I thought people would enjoy and that would be competitive enough to push me through the competition. Fortunately, with all the support and constantly reminding family, friends and co-workers to vote, I made the top five and ultimately won."

Along with his award presentation, Adams' winning photograph will remain on display on the Official Malmstrom Air Force Base Facebook website.

"Photography is something I definitely want to continue to pursue in the future," Adams said. "I want to stay sharp in it and excel. I think this competition was a stepping stone for me to continue to do what I love, and will definitely keep entering in the future."

This quarter's competition theme is "Animals," and the Public Affairs office will be accepting submissions from Oct. 29 through Nov. 30. Submissions are to be emailed to Public Affairs at 341mwpa@us.af.mil for individual photo evaluation. All entries should include a name, email, phone number and photo title. Photos must be sized to 5x7 and in JPEG file format at 300 dpi. Before entering a photo, be sure to read the competition rules, which can also be found on the Official MAFB Facebook site.
