The Air Force Global Strike Inspector General team - made up of nearly 175 members - recently visited Malmstrom Air Force Base to conduct a Consolidated Unit Inspection, or CUI, of the Airmen and programs on base. Their comprehensive evaluation started on Dec. 3 and was concluded on Dec. 11 with an out-brief given by IG members.

The inspection incorporated 12 inspections/assessments, listed below:

· Compliance Inspection
· Airfield Operations Compliance Inspection
· Aircrew Standardization/Evaluation Visit
· Air Force Metrology and Calibration Assessment
· Command Cyber Readiness Inspection
· Environmental, Safety, Occupational Health Compliance Assessment and Management Program
· Health Services Inspection
· Information Protection Management Evaluation
· Logistics Compliance Assessment Program
· Safety Program Management Evaluation
· Standardization Evaluation Program for Weather Operations
· Uniform Code of Military Justice Article 6, Part 1 Inspection

Prior to the inspection, Team Malmstrom members were busy preparing by ensuring all areas of their job duties were being performed to all standards and that all Air Force Instructions, Technical Orders and other guidance were being followed properly.

"We have gone through countless ways to prepare including CUI prep meetings, semi-annual self assessments, Management Internal Control Toolset implementation, internal Staff Assistance Visits, external higher headquarters SAVs, Wing exercises, Functional Area inspections and Operational Readiness Inspection tips of the day," Brual said to Team Malmstrom prior to the IG teams arrival.

Within the span of only seven days, Airmen around the base showed the IG team just why this base is known as "Wing One, Always Ready."

"Even though every aspect of mission readiness was inspected this past week, every one of you - every Airman - continued our tradition of excellence," Brual said. "The 341st Missile Wing earned an 'Excellent' rating overall, which is phenomenal and I had no doubt in my mind that you were qualified to do the task. Each and every Airman across the base and missile complex should take a moment to pat yourself on the back - you all deserve it and I am very proud of you."

While every Airman contributed to the successful outcome of the CUI, there were a few areas the IG team pointed out as strengths, as well as recognized many members of Wing One for their outstanding performances.

"Some of the performance highlights include: Aircrew Standardization/Evaluation, Aircrew Flight Equipment, Information Operations, Weather Operations, ICBM Operations, Nuclear Weapon Related Material, Communication and Information, Knowledge Operations, Chaplain, Historian, Safety, Suicide Prevention, Medical Contingency Response, Information Protection, Financial Management, Treaty Office, Complaints Resolutions, and Public Affairs," Brual said. "The IG also identified 36 superior performers and 28 superior teams - recognizing a total of 163 Airmen and civilians."

While most teams on base were recognized for outstanding performance and above average ratings, one team set the bar for the entire Air Force.

"I was told by Malmstrom's Command Cyber Readiness Inspection point of contact that our communications squadron gained the highest inspection score throughout the Air Force during this inspection," Brual said. "This accomplishment is a team effort from the Wing, but a special recognition is deserved for our communication folks. I encourage everyone to congratulate the communication team."

Malmstrom Air Force Base under went seven days of critical inspections of all mission aspects. While IG team members from AFGSC walked through the hallways of most buildings on base, the results they found reflect the great work all Airmen on this base do on a day-to-day basis.

"Congratulations to all Wing One Airmen," Brual said. "It was your hard work and attention to detail that gave the inspectors these positive results, but this hard work and attention to detail is something that we must ensure continues throughout day-to-day operations. Our mission is an important one, and our nation is depending on us to keep it as successful as possible. I encourage you all to take pride in yourself and especially in this wing. Keep up the great work!"
