The Malmstrom Air Force Base Fitness Center has recently implemented a series of fitness incentive programs to motivate members of Team Malmstrom to keep active year-round.

"Creating these fun programs has brought a sense of motivation for our customers," said Senior Airman Miriam Santiago, 341st Force Support Squadron fitness specialist. "These programs give them goals they can achieve while having fun at the same time. It gets them involved and makes them work toward a goal rather than doing the same old routine every day. If we [fitness center personnel] can provide ways to help a costumer get fit while enjoying their workout at the same time, then we have done our job."

Incentive rewards will be given to those to complete any of the milestones set by any four of the following programs. The programs are open to all active-duty members, Department of Defense civilians and their dependents.

Bench a Nuke
The purpose of the "Bench a Nuke" incentive program is to promote and encourage customers to participate in a year-round weightlifting regimen. Participants are responsible for tracking the amount of weight they've lifted until reaching a total of 79,432 pounds.

Aerobics Club
Participants receive one point for each aerobic class they attend. Participants are responsible for keeping track of their points and will receive incentive rewards after they have 35 to 50 points documented on their cards.

Miles Club
The purpose of Miles Club is to earn as many miles through running (outdoors or on a treadmill), walking, hiking, cross-training, or using elliptical, rowing, stair stepper and spinning machines.

Fitness Wall of Fame
Participants who score 100 percent on their official fitness assessment will be added to the Fitness Wall of Fame bulletin board and earn points toward the incentive program.

Anyone interested in participating can register at the fitness center front desk. For more information, call Santiago at 731-3621.
