AETC Special Duty Assignment team briefing
A team of Air Education and Training Command individuals will be on base to brief on the aspects of Special Duty opportunities as a recruiter, Military Training Instructor, Military Training Leader, Air Force Honor Guard member and Professional Military Education instructor. The briefing will take place at 1 p.m. on May 13 at the Education Center. Senior airmen with at least 35 months time-in-service through master sergeants with less than 16 years Total Active Federal Military Service may be eligible to apply and are encouraged to attend the briefing. Since each specialty has some varied rank needs/requirements the briefing is open to everyone at the installation. Spouses and supervisors are also highly encouraged to attend. Library has new hours
Effective May 1, Malmstrom's library has begun operating on new hours. It will be open again on Thursdays but with shorter hours on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The following is the library's new schedule:
· Monday: 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
· Tuesday: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
· Wednesday: 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
· Thursday: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
· Friday: 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
· Saturday: 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Wing commander to host film
Col. Robert Stanley, 341st Missile Wing commander, is hosting the film, "Dr. Strangelove" at the base auditorium May 17 at 7 p.m. The movie is open to everyone on base. For more information, call Senior Airman Sarah Hoffman at 731-4133.

Airman's Attic under new management
The Airman's Attic has a new manager. Master Sgt. Martin Cunningham has taken over management duties for the 341st Mission Support Group-sponsored facility, which houses donated household items and clothing for military personnel ranked E-6 and below and their immediate family members free of charge. The attic is open on Thursdays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is ran by volunteers from around base. Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer may contact their first sergeant or email malmstromairmansattic@yahoo.com.

Civilian TA authorized again
Civilian Tuition Assistance has been authorized again. Civilians must be an Air Force Global Strike Command appropriated fund employee in an active civilian pay status seeking to pursue an academic program that supports the mission of the U.S. Air Force to be eligible. Courses must be undergraduate or graduate level courses (not PhD) that are part of an approved academic plan from a college or university accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Interested members must provide a copy of their degree plan to the education office prior to the issuance of TA. Civilians may only receive TA for two courses per sixteen week period and the maximum TA they may receive in one fiscal year is $3,500. Participants may not receive duplicate financial support from any other source (veterans benefits, career program, etc.), in whole or in part, for courses for which they receive TA. Anyone who believes they meet the requirements to receive civilian TA may contact Mr. Dezaiffe at 731-4939.

Chapel events offered
The following are events being offered by Malmstrom's Chapel:
· A meatless Friday dinner will be held every Friday starting at 5 p.m. through May 31.
· A Stations of the Resurrection Service will be held every Friday through May 31 starting at 5:30 p.m.

Local animal rescue in need of volunteers
Pet Paw-See, a nonprofit animal rescue organization in Great Falls, needs volunteers to help set up tables and cages every Friday at 7 p.m. for Petco's "Adopathon," which will be held every Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. Volunteers are also needed daily to help to clean litter boxes. Bow hunter education courses offered
Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks is offering a free bow hunter education classroom course at Paris Gibson Education Center, located at 2400 Central Ave. The course is scheduled for May 14 and 16 from 6 to 9 p.m., and May 18 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information or to register, go to the FWP website at http://www.fwp.mt.gov. Registration is also taking place at the FWP, located at 4600 Giant Spring Road, on May 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. Students are required to pick up and read the bow hunter education manual before the first class. Prospective bow hunters between the ages of 12 and 17 must take both a hunter and bow hunter education course before they can attain an archery license. All bow hunters, regardless of age, must complete a bow hunter education course. For more information, call the FWP office in Great Falls at 454-5840.

Volunteers needed for annual book sale
The Great Falls Public Library is holding their annual book sale on May 16, 18 and 19. The library is in need of volunteers for the event, as well as any time until then to sort books. Anyone interested in volunteering may contact Jude Smith at 453-0349 or jusmith@greatfallslibrary.org.

Health and Fitness Fair
There will be a Health and Fitness Fair and Sports Day being held at the fitness center May 29 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will include health fair booths and sport events. Registration for all sport events will be held on a signup sheet at the front desk. For more information, contact Senior Airman Miriam Santiago at 731-3600.

Outdoor adventure trips
The following are outdoor adventure trips offered by Malmstrom's Outdoor Recreation:
· Two Blackfoot Whitewater Rafting trips are scheduled to take place on May 18 and June 1 from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. The Blackfoot River is a Class II/Class III river offering big waves to ride. Trip fees include transportation, equipment and guides, and the minimum age requirement for the trip is 12 years old. All participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
· A caving adventure at the Lick Creek Cave is scheduled for May 19 from 1 to 9 p.m. The trip will feature a stop at the Cathedral Room, which is the largest room of any Montana cave. All participants must be capable of climbing, crawling and duck walking. Transportation, helmets and headlamps will be provided.
