Air Force Motor Vehicle Traffic Supervision updates affecting Malmstrom Housing residents Published May 23, 2013 341st Security Forces Squadron MALMSTROM AIR FORCE BASE, Mont. -- The 341st Security Forces Squadron has received an updated Air Force Motor Vehicle Traffic Supervision supplement for base traffic control guidance. This supplement has many changes that affect driving and parking in base housing. Failure to comply with these rules may result in a violation. The 341st Missile Wing commander or the 341 Mission Support Group commander will suspend driving privileges for 30 days for four or more violations that occur within a 60-day period. The speed limit is 15 mph on streets within Malmstrom Air Force Base housing areas, except where posted. Lincoln Drive is 10 mph as posted. Pine loop, Larch loop and the Atlas Village section of Cedar Street is 10 mph also. Parking is prohibited in the following areas: · Within 25 feet of an intersection · In such a manner so that any portion of the vehicle extends onto or blocks a roadway or walkway so as to hinder pedestrians or vehicular traffic · On the fire hydrant side of the street in MAFB housing. NOTE: Chestnut Street and Whitehall Drive have a hydrant on both sides of the street. Do not park within 15 feet of the hydrant or across from another vehicle in a manner that affects the flow of traffic or emergency vehicle access · Within five feet of driveways or entrances and exits to any parking area · Against the flow of traffic in parking lots, streets, or roadways Vehicles should not be operated or parked on grass, dirt or seeded areas unless specifically required for job performance. Wrecked or unsightly vehicles should not be parked on the streets or in parking lots. For the purpose of this paragraph, unsightly is what a reasonable person would consider to be unsightly. No child under six years of age should be left unattended at any time in a parked vehicle. Vehicles are prohibited from displaying indecent or obscene bumper stickers, graphics, decals, ornaments, or other material representing or depicting lewd, sexual, racial, genital or excretory functions, or simulate behavior that endangers public morals or otherwise outrages public decency. Personnel who are deployed for 30 days or more should park their vehicles in the Long Term Parking Area located behind building 300 on the flight line. Vehicle-mounted radio and stereo equipment, or stereo equipment carried in a vehicle, must be played at a volume, which cannot be heard more than 50 feet from the vehicle to ensure the capability of hearing traffic warning signals, horns, alarms, sirens, etc. to aid in the avoidance of vehicle accidents and to avoid disturbing the general public. Law enforcement may conspicuously tag a privately owned vehicle with a DD Form 2504 (Abandoned Vehicle Notice) if it appears the vehicle is abandoned. The owner will have three days from the date the vehicle is tagged to remove the vehicle before impoundment action is initiated. An abandoned vehicle is when a vehicle is in a state of general disrepair, the owner cannot be located or identified, or if combinations of the following factors are present: · Vehicle is parked in the same location for more than 30 days (other than designated long term parking areas) · Absence of major body parts: ex. no door(s), no quarter panel(s), no engine block, no tire(s), no hood · One or more flat tires · Expired state registration · An accumulation of mechanical parts or debris under or around the vehicle For more information on traffic updates in housing areas, contact Master Sgt.
