Kid's Fishing Day scheduled
Central Montana will be holding its Annual Kid's Fishing Day on June 8 from 9 a.m. to noon at Wadsworth Pond located on the west side of Great Falls. No fishing licenses are required during this event and there is no age limit; however, activities are geared toward younger anglers. The Great Falls chapter of Walleyes Unlimited will be giving away reel outfits to children who complete certain activities, and children with rods and reels will receive a free tackle box with tackle. Leadership Pathways program cancelled
Malmstrom's Leadership Pathways incentive program has been cancelled as it is no longer mandating at the Air Force level.

Volunteers needed to help Great Falls Animal Shelter
The Great Falls Animal Shelter is looking for volunteers to help work the Pet-A-Palooza adoption event on June 8. Volunteers are needed to help set up and tear down as well as run carnival games from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and those who sign up to volunteer will receive a free T-shirt. Members interested do not need to be a volunteer at the shelter to get involved with the event. Vacation Bible School volunteers needed

Team Malmstrom invited to Aces Cop Combat Challenge
The second annual Aces Cop Combat Challenge, hosted by the 341st Security Forces Group is slated for June 7 at 6:30 a.m. and is expected to last through the afternoon. Team Malmstrom members are invited to attend and support security forces members as they compete in various challenges in the vicinity of Powwow Park and the Warrior Launch Facility. Opportunity to explore special duties still exists
The Air Education and Training Command Special Duty Briefing Team conducted their regularly scheduled visit recently. Air Force members who may have missed the team's visit do not have to wait for the next visit to apply for an AETC Special Duty. Great Falls Symphony seeking instrumental musicians
The Great Falls Symphony is seeking musicians who are interested in joining the orchestra for performances during the summer months. The symphony will present its annual summer concert June 26 and will back up the band, Cheap Trick at the Montana State Fair on July 26. Performance at Cambridge Court Assisted Living
Cambridge Court Assisted Living is hosting the Old Time Fiddlers on Saturday, June 8 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. The performance will take place on the sixth floor. For more information, contact Cambridge at 727-7151.

Parking lot closure
Due to construction, Fall Construction has requested a road and parking lot closure on 70th Street between Goddard Drive and 1st Avenue North until June 28 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Buildings affected are 1447, 1440, 1439, 165 and 160.

Airman's Attic under new management
The Airman's Attic has a new manager. Master Sgt. Martin Cunningham has taken over management duties for the 341st Mission Support Group-sponsored facility, which houses donated household items and clothing for military personnel ranked E-6 and below and their immediate family members free of charge. The attic is open on Thursdays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is ran by volunteers from around base. Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer may contact their first sergeant or email malmstromairmansattic@yahoo.com.

Civilian TA authorized again
Civilian Tuition Assistance has been authorized again. Civilians must be an Air Force Global Strike Command appropriated fund employee in an active civilian pay status seeking to pursue an academic program that supports the mission of the U.S. Air Force to be eligible. Courses must be undergraduate or graduate level courses (not PhD) that are part of an approved academic plan from a college or university accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Interested members must provide a copy of their degree plan to the education office prior to the issuance of TA. Civilians may only receive TA for two courses per sixteen week period and the maximum TA they may receive in one fiscal year is $3,500. Participants may not receive duplicate financial support from any other source (veterans benefits, career program, etc.), in whole or in part, for courses for which they receive TA. Anyone who believes they meet the requirements to receive civilian TA may contact Mr. Dezaiffe at 731-4939.

Library has new hours
Effective May 1, Malmstrom's library has begun operating on new hours. It will be open again on Thursdays but with shorter hours on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The following is the library's new schedule:
· Monday: 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
· Tuesday: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
· Wednesday: 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
· Thursday: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
· Friday: 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
· Saturday: 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Outdoor adventure trips
The following are outdoor adventure trips offered by Malmstrom's Outdoor Recreation:
· Dearborn River Rafting trips are scheduled for June 2 from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and June 29 from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring lunch, dinner, water and sunscreen.
· An evening kayak and canoe paddle trip is scheduled for June 4 from 5:30 to 10 p.m.
· A fly fishing trip is scheduled for June 14 from 5 to 10 p.m. and June 23 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. ODR will provide transportation, pontoon boats, waders and fly rods. This trip also serves as the field portion of the fly casting and fishing class.
· A Glacier National Park trip is scheduled for June 8 from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

AFGSC Striker Life ½ Marathon
Airmen are encouraged to start preparing now to compete in the 2nd Annual Malmstrom Air Force Base Striker Life ½ Marathon. Deadline to sing up is July 1 online or at the Malmstrom Fitness Center. Grizzly Bend specials
The following are specials being offered at the Grizzly Bend during the month of June:
· A two-for-one steak night is scheduled for June 11 from 5 to 8 p.m.
· A family night summer kick-off patio party is scheduled for June 14 from 5 to 8 p.m.
· A hip hop night is scheduled for June 14 from 7 p.m. to midnight.
· A Woodstock retro-themed party is scheduled for June 21 starting at 3:41 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to wear retro-themed clothing for a chance to win prizes.
