The 20th Air Force Women’s Initiative Team conference was held at Malmstrom Air Force Base last week and featured guest speaker Maj. Gen. Michael J. Lutton, 20th Air Force commander. Due to the WIT’s efforts, a policy was signed earlier this year which allowed pregnant Airmen to volunteer to keep their flying status, and recently an additional policy was signed which protects a pregnant Airman’s rights to keep their pregnancy status confidential. "Innovators across our force are accelerating change and are finding ways to improve the quality of life and quality of service for our Airmen and families, which in turn increases our warfighting capabilities," said Lutton. "Policy changes such as allowing pregnant Airmen to volunteer to continue flying, and the policy just recently signed by Gen. Bussiere, which protects an Airman's right to keep their pregnancy status private, are successes.
We can and must do more to improve the quality of life and quality of service. The hard work of teams across Global Strike Command, such as the 20th Air Force WIT, are critical to progress for our team and their families. The work is leading to significant, systematic and beneficial changes now and in the future."
