MALMSTROM AIR FORCE BASE, Mont. -- Members of the 341st Logistics Readiness Squadron and 341st Civil Engineer Squadron held a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the supply warehouse, Feb. 21, at Malmstrom Air Force Base.
The ceremony formally recognized the consolidation of inbound and outbound shipment of government parts needed by units on the base as well as other bases around the world. Until the completion of the consolidation project that began last October, outbound goods would be staged at another building two blocks away.
“This consolidation is beneficial for the customer because they can just go to one building especially if they’re picking up and dropping off at the same time,” said Senior Airman Izik Crispin, 341st LRS traffic management journeyman.
“Along with making it easier for the customer it also streamlines the process for us since all we have to do is just cart supplies from one end of the building to another. Us dropping off supplies to another building is a thing of the past,” added Crispin.
In addition to cargo operations, personnel needing to consult the Defense Travel Management Office for arrangement of household goods can also be done out of the same building.
With the unilateral support of delivering supplies to other bases, a section of the warehouse is provided to accommodate machines that packs supplies that meet customer’s standards.
“Every base that we ship equipment to has specific shipping standards,” said Staff Sgt. Jeremy Adams, 341st LRS warehouse facility manager. “So not only can we ship and receive from one building but we have the resources to build pallets and crates so we can meet the customer’s shipping standards.”
“This operation is now a one-stop shop that will create a lot of proficiency now that everything is centralized,” said Maj. Ryan Murray, 341st LRS commander. “This project couldn’t have been done without CE so we’re really thankful for those guys.”
