Colonel Jason T. Tompkins is the 341st Medical Group Commander, Malmstrom Air Force Base, Montana, where he leads 220 active duty, civilian and contract medical personnel and provides medical support to the Air Force’s largest single missile complex. In this role, he is responsible for optimizing health and medical readiness of 3,300 combat-ready Airmen and providing safe and high-quality care for 15,000 Department of Defense beneficiaries throughout northcentral Montana.
Col. Tompkins entered the Air Force in 1990 as a Biomedical Equipment Maintenance Technician. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Park University and received a direct commission in 2003 as a Medical Service Corps officer. Col Tompkins has served in a variety of medical administrative functional areas including three Squadron Commands, Deputy Group Commander, Group Administrator, Medical Logistics, TRICARE Operations and Patient Administration, and Medical Information Services as well as the Defense Health Agency in Personnel and Management.
Col Tompkins is board certified by the Health Information Systems Society and currently holds the role for the Medical Service Corps as the Associate Corps Chief for Medical Information Systems where he provides force development, integration, and modernization for all Medical Service Corps officers aligned within the Health Information Management field. Prior to this position, he was the Commander of the 86th Medical Support Squadron, Ramstein Air Base, Germany, where he commanded a 187-person unit providing health care support services to Ramstein Air Base and throughout the Kaiserslautern Military Community including 168 geographically separated units.
