Welcome to Montana, Big Sky Country… Land of the Shining Mountains… the Treasure State; where the majestic Rocky Mountains lie and the wide-open prairies roam. Ride along the clear winding rivers which find their way through this vast land called Montana. The state's colorful human and natural history touches on everything from Lewis and Clark to Old West mines.

Located in central Montana, Great Falls is the third-largest city in Montana, with a population of about 70,000. Great Falls was first discovered by the Lewis and Clark Expedition while searching “The Great Falls of the Missouri” in June 1805. Then in 1883, Paris Gibson, with the backing of a Railroad magnate James J. Hill, constructed the first five dams to harness the mighty Missouri River. Great Falls later became known as the "Electric City" for its numerous dams and power plants. Great Falls has a small city charm with a big city heart.

Some of the finest, readily-accessible hunting, fishing, skiing and snowmobiling are in close proximity to the city. Great Falls area is home to some of the best fly fishing rivers, spring creeks and lakes around. The scenery is spectacular while fishing on the blue ribbon Missouri River and with an amazing diversity of waters, you are sure to find a destination to match your interest and skill level. The Montana mountains receive plenty of winter and Great Falls offers enough incredible winter activities to keep anyone busy. Activities span from the quiet solitude of snowshoeing to the rush of snowmobiling and downhill or cross-country skiing.

Glacier National Park is a 4-hour car ride from Great Falls providing some of the most spectacular and pristine wilderness and is called the Crown Jewel of the Continent. Wildlife including bear, elk, deer, bighorn sheep, mountain goats, and moose can be seen throughout the park.

For the indoor enthusiast, Great Falls offers a variety of indoor options which are full of culture and rich history. Step back into the Old West with art galleries that feature famed artist Charles M. Russell. Take an adventure as you tour the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center and learn about the expedition of the west. Understand the mission of Malmstrom Air Force Base as you take a look inside a missile launch center exhibit and walk the grounds of the Malmstrom AFB Museum, featuring the biggest military model aircraft display in the entire northwest. Have a family outing and visit the Children’s Museum of Montana or jump around at the Flippin’ Family Fun Center.
